Bad battery agian , everything else is as it should be.
Am dying to take this one apart but resisting as under warranty.
Not impressed with the cracks in the casing radiating from the screw holes,
Clearly been overtightened at factory, god knows how much water has potentially found its way in .
Am I the most unlucky focus jam owner ever?
After my original battery failure at 136 miles new battery ordered and all going well until yesterday.
Guess what, new battery has went tits up at 525 miles!! Same symptoms as before, bike will not switch on or charge, charger fine and all wiring...
Interesting
I too have the 4.0 amp charger and have never had a problem charging the battery no matter how cold , I got the bike in December last year and it always charged fine in a freezing cold garage , until the battery failure!
So far so good with new battery and am loving it again...
Mine does the very distinct clunk when the motor starts driving too , has done from new. I can only assume that this is some kind of Cush drive to take up shock loading , like in a motorcycle rear wheel.
Yes I paid for it but that's my fault for letting my curiosity getting the better of me and opening the battery case up. It was very obvious that this had been done so didn't even bother trying to get on a warranty.
It's a good day!!
New battery arrived yesterday after a month of waiting (£400 from j e James).
All wiring refitted and a good smearing of dielectric grease on all connectors , battery in , motor fitted etc. Finger hovering over on button, first 3 second push of button to wake up battery, then...
It will be one month tomorrow since ordering a new battery , still no word on arrival, dealers having any spares for these bikes seems to be non existent.
I think the 'JAM' In focus jam is abbreviated for ' just awaiting malfunction' ?
I feel your pain , my battery is dead too, same problem , no voltage from battery . I'm still waiting on a new battery turning up, it's been nearly a month now since ordering . Not sure I will ever be confident in the bike when it does finally work again. Time will tell.
Russ.
There are only 8 screws, but inside the case there are 5 internal clips down each side
You will need a stout screwdriver to pry and twist at the same time, it's very difficult! You'll here cracking noise as clips separate.
Not really supposed to come apart I guess. My new battery now ordered ...
One thing I forgot to mention was if you look at the third picture down , you will see a thin black wire( just above the 2 yellows) with a clean cut end, this was connected to nothing inside the black rubbery block! .
I don't think it's broken off any other wire as the end has a clean cut.
I can...
So true !
But If they made it to reliable , i guess then the manufacturers would be less likely to extract more money from us when the crap BMS system fails !?
