The one my 2019 expert carbon came with, X1. This auto-adjusting is fairly recent, so I'm guessing the mechanical setting retention is getting tired. The bike is heading towards 5 years old and I ride it a lot.
Experience has taught me that, when shifting gets noisy and nasty, the chain gap screw (aka B screw for some reason) has adjusted itself. It never seems to be the barrel adjuster, low limit screw, or high limit screw. Or a bent derailleur hanger.
How many of you SRAM derailleur guys (11...
I'm posting this to (maybe) help other riders diagnose an annoying click sound when riding rough trails. The video description has my (failed!) diagnostic steps and the click sound can be heard clearly in the video.
TL/DR: Annoying and somewhat alarming click heard on rough trails. Click...
A few years ago I rented an emtb (before I owned one!) in the Swiss town of Zermatt. My plan for the day included seeing how close I could ride to the Matterhorn. The trail was still "officially" closed for the winter season, but this was late May and it was comfortably warm in town. And I...
Cost to build is not the same thing as value to the customer.
Payroll costs may be larger than costs for product components and manufacturing equipment.
If you can sell millions rather than thousands, your per-part costs go way down and you can sell each product for less and still make enough...
Looking at the same data another way, Magura mineral oil is (11.5-8)/8 = 3.5/8 = 0.44 = 44% "thicker" (more viscous) than Shimano. You might notice a 44% change in viscosity. I would sure notice if my weight or my paycheck changed by 44%!
;)
TheBikeMechanic says Shimano is thicker than Magura. That claim is not supported by viscosity data. You can learn a lot from the safety data sheets, which are required by governments. These data sheets are more likely to be accurate than spewage from the marketing departments.
The data...
I sent the motor to eBike Motor Repair in Franklin, Tennessee. I don't remember if the guy I emailed was Michael.
It's good to hear that I can stop being so concerned about every drop of water!
There's a saying in motor racing related to delayed failure.
"That motor was absolutely bulletproof right up until it broke."
The diagnosis of my failing Brose was crank shaft corrosion at the sprag clutch contact area, which caused lots of riding problems. I didn't realize I was doing...
You should do what I wish I had done - visit the Sea Otter bike show in Monterrey in April and test ride as many bikes as you can. It is *very* difficult (Impossible, but that word might start a flame war) to figure out what would suit you by reading what other people write.

My OneUp 100cc pump with all of their integrated tools disappeared last fall. Either I lost it or it was stolen. I told OneUp my sob story and they replied with a coupon for 40% (!!!) off the replacement parts, which arrived this morning.
That is how to build brand loyalty! Not through...
