Hot melt wax - the journey begins

I have a SRAM T-Type XX chain - which has already done a few hundred miles. I ran 2x SRAM XX1 chains on my old AXS drivetrain, but one of the selling points of the T-Type was it's extended durability. I guess having 2 chains is so you can always have a waxed one ready to go on... but I was of...

On the hunt for a grease gun...

I went to order 4 different ones - my basket was £44... and then it calculated the shipping as £25... and I closed the page 😂

Hot melt wax - the journey begins

Here's a photo of my bike after a typical ride at the weekend. Fairly short - just over an hour, and about 12 miles. If you zoom in, you can see piles of pine needles all over the bike, and tonnes of dirt too. The cassette and chain ring are covered. 1. If I use wax on this, will my...

Levo Gen 3 Handlebars 50mm rise

It looks like the Levo Gen 3 has a 35mm stem / bar... and the SQLabs 30X is a 31.8 bar - so yes, you'd need a new stem. I've had various Specialized bikes over the years and they've always come with 31.8 bars. I assumed the Levo Gen 3 would be the same - but I'm wrong!

Levo Gen 3 Handlebars 50mm rise

Have a look at SQ Labs… You can get a 50mm rise with a 12 or 16deg backsweep. https://www.sq-lab.com/en/products/handlebars/sqlab-handlebar-3ox-12.html I got the 12deg carbon one based on a load of recommendations from here, and it’s soooo good.

Muddy rides. To wash or not to wash?

I used to use the MucOff wet lube, and now use Peaty’s all weather. It cleans off much easier.

Review Mucky Nutz - Mugguard Rear Fender

12 miles today… in just over an hour. Didn’t bother with the extension on my MuckyNutz. Left my backpack in the car, as at the worst point I’m only about 3 miles from the car. Thankfully I was in waterproof shorts / jacket, and I could just throw them in a ‘dirty’ box away from everything...

Muddy rides. To wash or not to wash?

Here’s my bike after a short ride round a local trail. About 12 miles in just over an hour… and this is what the bike looks like. I’m afraid leaving it to dry and brushing it off isn’t really an option. The cassette and rear mech are full of crud! Before I went and bought 5L of Halfords own...

Muddy rides. To wash or not to wash?

I used to take a 8L spray bottle like that (weedkiller pump / spray) full of water to the trail with me - so I could clean the bike before putting it on the car. The bike would go on a roof rack, so I’d end up with dirt streaming down the windows when driving if I didn’t get the worst off first!

Review Mucky Nutz - Mugguard Rear Fender

I know! It’s absolutely bucketing rain here just now, and I’m stir crazy in the house. I chucked on some waterproofs and stuck the ghastly MuckyNutz extension on and did about 14 miles (mainly cycle paths and roads). My bum was bone dry!

Review Mucky Nutz - Mugguard Rear Fender

I've considered the Sicomtb one a few times, but am always put off by the price. On my last bike I had a Mudhugger Front guard on the rear - which essentially did the same job for less than half the price. The half sized MuckyNutz part goes down the back of the chainstay, so protects the pivot...

Hot melt wax - the journey begins

I'm wondering the same. Here's my bike after a typical weekend ride just now. It's usually filthy, and the drivetrain is full of mud / sand / pine needles etc. As well as cleaning the bike, I spend 5-10 mins spraying the drivetrain with Peaty's Drivetrain Cleaner, brushing it with a special...

What did you buy your ebike this week?

It's been a while since I bought anything for my bike... but someone posted a link to this a couple of weeks ago, and I thought I'd try it out. A Bike Yoke SRAM AXS Pod matchmaker for a Magura brake. It ended up costing €43.61 (£38.84), but is way cheaper than buying the Pod Bridge Clamp -...

Which 2 were you looking at? The Mudhugger and MuckyNutz... or the Sicomtb?
