Latest issue - mode switch down button started sticking on. Back at the bike shop for repair. 700km.
Starting to really like the bike now - when its working properly. Easily the highest maintenance bike I have owned in over 30 years of mountain biking……
Anyone else tried a steering damper like the Cane Creek Viscoset?
Latest MBR reckons they transform the steering on a Reign E+ 1 - probably the only aspect of the bike I’m still not 100% on.
Mine is fine as well - don’t notice motor noise when riding unless I’m listening for it.
Not sure why anyone would stick to the gear ratios the salesman suggests - I always “ride it like I stole it” on a test ride.
Sounds like he bought the wrong bike for his needs.
Had a big crash yesterday on my 22 Reign e+ 1 at the start of Te Poaka in Rotorua - a relatively easy, wide, smooth, flowy DH run. Was unconscious for a minute or so and have no recollection of the crash or 30 minutes or so after so have no idea what happened.
Just noticed the rear shock - Fox...
Stock - whatever that is. Back end of the bike was far better than the front till I removed the spacers and gave it an oil service / degrease. Now it feels balanced.
Im about 100kg plus gear - running the 38 at 114psi and the X2 at 280psi - feels about right for the riding I do. Took 2 of the tokens out of the fork and running both with compression fully open - maybe a click or 2 of lsc.
Finally got round to swapping out the rear HR2 for an Assegai DH Maxx Grip - huge improvement! Felt like I had an extra couple of inches travel on the back - smoother, quieter and much more grip. Could finally load up the front end without thinking the back end was going to do something silly...
Good answer, but isnt he taliking about riding what would essentially be a DH bike but with an added 8kg or so of motor and battery that wouldn't be used 99% of the time?
IMHO Morzine is much more fun on a proper DH bike - its pretty easy to do a full days riding (70k or more) with little or no pedalling so an E bike may not be the best bet. The longer and slacker the better.
Low setting should be fine - throw a 180mm kit up front and should balance out nicely.
Tempted to try it myself - wifes bike has a 205x65 trunnion dpx2 on it that should fit straight in.
Thats what I’m saying - a 10 year old analogue bike is just an old bike, a 10 (3) year old ebike is a boat anchor….. Sell it while it still has some warranty (and value) left and let someone else have the big bills.
Bike is awesome - its amazingly fast and capable everywhere. Had a few issues...
Anybody owning a 2022 Reign e+ thinking its actually a long term bike? I’m starting to think selling before the motor warranty runs out may actually be a wise thing to do?
My last bike lasted almost 15 years - needed maintaining of course but never cost more than a couple of hundred every few...
I get this too - worse on the back. Swapped the back rotor for an old Hope I had and instantly fixed. Resin pads made almost no difference. Thinking of putting a decent 220 on the front - maybe SRAM but wont be Shimano.
