i could be wrong but I’m guessing you would remove just one link by going from 20t to 18t I have a 15t and am happy with that. Any bigger and I would struggle to climb really steep hills even in the lowest gear

My rotors say Resin Only on them. Why is that?

Always bought shimano resin pads and they seem to last a long time and I’ve never heard a squeak out of them. Just as an experiment I’ve ordered some cheap as chips Clarks pads and will compare

mine are different brand (FSA) which are just stamped out of a piece of metal. yours might be better quality
