Coil spring rate calculator for eMTBs

Most coil calculators ask you to guess your bike's leverage ratio and ignore the bike entirely. This one already knows your bike.

Why this one is different

  • Real leverage ratio, computed for you. Rear travel from the verified spec divided by your shock's actual stroke. No guessing.
  • The bike's own mass counts. An eMTB puts 15kg or more of itself on the rear wheel. Every generic calculator ignores this, which is the biggest single error on an e-bike.
  • Your frame size matters. Weight distribution comes from your size's real wheelbase and chainstay, so an XL and a Small get different rates, correctly.
  • Practical output. The spring to buy in 25lb increments, an alternative, sag in millimetres, and the preload rule (more than two turns means the next rate up).

Pick your bike and trim; if your trim ships a coil shock the spring recommendation appears automatically. Running a coil conversion on an air-specced bike? Pick your bike, then choose your coil shock from the component picker: the bike's leverage ratio and mass still apply.

Coil-equipped eMTBs we cover

62 bikes have at least one build that ships a coil shock from the factory; the trims are named so you know which. Each link opens that bike's setup page with spring rates by rider weight.
