Always breathtaking, never breathless

The Trek Powerfly+ FS 2026 is Trek's full-power trail eMTB on the Alpha Platinum aluminium hardtail platform, refreshed for 2026 around Bosch's latest Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor and an 800 Wh removable PowerTube. It runs 130 mm of fork travel (120 mm on certain sizes) with 100 mm on size S, with a claimed 24.5 kg system weight. Headline numbers: 120 Nm of torque, 750 W peak power, a 65 to 66.5 degree size-specific head angle, a 442 to 461 mm size-specific chainstay range and reach growing from 410 to 500 mm across eight sizes. £6,000 for the base trim. Community verdict: a serious-mileage Bosch CX Gen 5 trail tool from a brand with the deepest UK dealer reach in eMTB.
Drive system and range. The Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 brings 120 Nm of torque and 750 W of peak power after the PU2.0 firmware update. The motor weighs 2.8 kg. Trek's RIB 2.0 (Removable Integrated Battery) housing makes the 800 Wh PowerTube genuinely easy to drop out for charging, a standout feature against rivals with side-loading or bonded battery designs. Real-world range on 800 Wh is exceptional: on a Powerfly platform with mid-assist trail use, owners can comfortably target 70 to 100 km per charge. Bosch Smart System pairs with Kiox displays and pushes firmware via the Bosch Flow app for ongoing motor refinement.
Geometry and handling. Head angles vary by size from 65 to 66.5 degrees, with the steeper figure on M and larger frames. Reach grows from 410 mm in SM to 500 mm in XL across an unusually deep eight-size table. Chainstays grow from 442 mm on SM to 461 mm on MD and larger, a sensible size-specific approach for taller riders. Wheelbases run 1151 to 1290 mm. Size S runs 27.5-inch wheels, while M to XL run 29-inch. Trek's Control Freak internal routing keeps cables clean, and the frame includes Motor Armor and Boost148 12 mm rear thru-axle for proper trail use.
Build and value. One base trim, £6,000. Build includes FOX AWL Rail fork with Rail 2.0 damper at 120 mm (100 mm on S), Shimano SLX/XT 12-speed drivetrain and Shimano 4-piston hydraulic brakes (M6100 lever / M6120 calliper). The standout strengths are the latest Bosch CX Gen 5 motor, the 800 Wh RIB 2.0 removable battery and Trek's strong UK dealer reach. The questionable note is that the trim ladder is published as a single configuration in our gold record, with the FOX AWL Rail fork sitting below the FOX 36 or RockShox Lyrik that buyers might expect at this price step.
Caveats and known gripes. The 130/120 travel and steeper 66.5 degree head angle on bigger sizes signal that the Powerfly+ FS is positioned as a trail tourer rather than an aggressive all-mountain platform. Anyone wanting steeper descending capability should look at the Trek Rail+, Powerfly+'s longer-travel sibling. The aluminium frame is reassuringly stout but adds weight compared to carbon rivals in the same price band. Trek's dealer pricing on the Powerfly+ FS sits slightly above the equivalent Cannondale Moterra Neo (£4,199 entry), so value-led buyers may want to compare. Long-term community visibility for the 2026 Powerfly+ FS specifically is limited at launch.
Verdict. The Powerfly+ FS 2026 suits the trail rider who wants Bosch CX Gen 5 power, an 800 Wh easy-removable battery, deep UK dealer support and Trek's signature aluminium chassis durability, in a sensible trail-tourer geometry package. Riders chasing longer travel, lower weight or more aggressive geometry should look at the Trek Rail+, the Cannondale Moterra Neo or the Marin Alpine Trail E. Production status: current.
