Aluminium Bosch CX trail eMTB with 800Wh PowerTube battery

The Trek Powerfly+ FS 2025 is an aluminium full-suspension trail eMTB built around the latest Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor and an 800 Wh PowerTube battery, pitched at the entry-to-mid trail buyer who wants Trek's dealer network and the latest Bosch power at value pricing. Headline numbers: 130 mm of fork travel, 120 mm at the rear, 120 Nm of peak CX Gen 5 torque, an 800 W manufacturer-claimed peak, a 65.5 to 66.5 degree size-tuned head angle, a removable Bosch PowerTube 800 Wh pack and reach progressing 410 mm on SM, 440 mm on MD, 465 mm on LG and 490 mm on XL. The community framing is light: no curated forum quotes are yet on file for this specific 2025 build.
Drive system and range. Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 brings 120 Nm of peak torque, 250 W nominal, a manufacturer-claimed 750 W peak and a 2.8 kg motor weight. This is the latest CX, with the smoothest 100 to 120 Nm power ramp, the cleanest firmware refinements and the deepest service network in the eMTB market. The Bosch PowerTube 800 Wh battery is removable and benefits from Trek's RIB 2.0 (Removable Integrated Battery) carrier system. Real-world range on Gen 5 at 800 Wh on a 130/120 mm trail chassis is genuinely strong: 45 to 65 miles in mixed assist on rolling terrain is the typical envelope, putting the Powerfly+ FS in long-day territory without compromise.
Geometry and handling. Size-tuned geometry. SM at 65.5 degrees head angle paired with 442 mm chainstay (and a 27.5 inch wheel package for the small size only), MD/LG/XL all at 66.5 degrees head angle and 461 mm chainstay with full 29 inch wheels. Reach steps 410 mm on SM, 440 mm on MD, 465 mm on LG and 490 mm on XL. Wheelbase progression 1151 to 1259 mm. A 66.5 degree head angle on the larger sizes is squarely trail-bike territory, steeper than typical 65 degree all-mountain rivals and signalling a quick-handling, climb-friendly brief rather than aggressive descending. The size-tuned wheel package (27.5 SM, 29 MD/LG/XL) is the smart way to fit shorter riders properly.
Build and value. Three trims. The 4 at £4000 (entry trim). The 4 Equipped at £4400 (adds commuter and accessory kit). The 8 at £5600, 24.5 kg, with the Fox Rhythm 36 fork (130 mm travel, GRIP damper), Fox Float Rhythm rear shock, SRAM DB 8 four-piston hydraulic disc brakes and the SRAM GX Eagle AXS T-Type Transmission with wireless shifting. £4000 for a Bosch CX Gen 5 build with an 800 Wh pack and Trek's dealer support is among the sharpest entry pricing in the market. The 8 trim at £5600 brings genuinely modern wireless shifting and a credible Fox Rhythm suspension package for the price.
Verdict. The Trek Powerfly+ FS 2025 is for the rider who wants a properly modern Bosch CX Gen 5 trail eMTB with an 800 Wh removable battery, Trek's industry-leading dealer network and warranty support, and value pricing across the trim ladder. The strengths are real. Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 brings the latest, most refined mid-drive with the broadest dealer service. The 800 Wh PowerTube on the RIB 2.0 carrier is a class-leading battery solution. Trek's Alpha Platinum aluminium frame quality is consistent and the ABP rear linkage has years of real-world durability data. Size-tuned wheel size and chainstays (27.5 SM, 29 MD/LG/XL) is the right approach for accessible fit. £4000 for the 4 trim with Bosch CX Gen 5 is genuinely sharp pricing. The honest caveats are clear. The 66.5 degree head angle on the larger sizes is steeper than typical trail-bike norms (most rivals are 65 to 65.5 degrees), which makes the Powerfly+ FS a steeper-feeling, more climb-friendly bike rather than a descent specialist. 130/120 mm of travel is at the low end of "trail bike" and below typical all-mountain. The fixed 461 mm chainstay across MD, LG and XL is the typical missed-trick for the smaller MD frame. No curated rider quotes or forum reports are yet on file for the 2025 build, so long-term reliability data is limited. The Powerfly+ FS suits the rider who wants a value-priced, Bosch-powered trail eMTB with broad Trek dealer support and 800 Wh battery range, and is happy with steeper trail-bike geometry rather than aggressive enduro. Riders prioritising slacker geometry, longer travel or a lighter weight should look at a Trek Rail+ (full-power), Cannondale Moterra LT or Cube Stereo Hybrid 140. Production status is current.
