Lightweight trail eMTB with Bosch SX mid-power motor

The Transition Regulator SX 2026 is the American brand's carbon lightweight trail and enduro eMTB, built around Bosch's Performance Line SX motor and a 400 Wh CompactTube battery. It runs 160 mm of fork travel and 150 mm rear in a mullet (29 front, 27.5 rear) configuration. Headline numbers: 55 Nm of torque, 600 W peak power, a 2.0 kg motor weight, a 64.5 degree head angle and reach growing from 425 to 510 mm across four sizes. The Regulator SX replaces the previous Fazua-powered Heckler SL after community-flagged reliability issues, putting proven Bosch SX power on a Transition chassis. Community verdict: a properly capable, reliability-first lightweight that finally fixes the motor problem on the Transition lightweight platform.
Drive system and range. The Bosch Performance Line SX is Bosch's lightweight motor option, delivering 55 Nm of torque and 600 W of peak power in a 2.0 kg package. Long-term owners report exceptional reliability, with one rider logging 3,000+ miles across Pivot Shuttle SL/AM and Transition Regulator SX combined with zero motor or battery problems. The 400 Wh Bosch CompactTube is on the smaller side of the lightweight class but typical for the SX platform, with mixed trail use typically delivering 35 to 55 km depending on assist and rider weight. The Bosch Smart System ecosystem brings firmware updates through the Bosch Flow app, including the PowerMore range extender option for longer rides.
Geometry and handling. A 64.5 degree head angle is bang on the modern aggressive-trail norm. Reach grows from 425 mm in SM to 510 mm in XL, a useful 85 mm spread that fits both short and tall riders. Chainstays grow from 442 mm on SM and MD to 448 mm on LG and XL, a sensible size-specific approach that gives bigger riders proportional rear centres. Wheelbases run 1201 to 1305 mm. The mullet wheel setup adds playful character that owners praise repeatedly, and Transition's signature aggressive geometry has been called as feeling balanced both up and downhill. Owners report a 6-foot rider on Large feels well-fitted, not oversized.
Build and value. Transition offers the Regulator SX in a single trim with detailed component specifications dependent on dealer configuration. The standout strength is the chassis-and-motor combination: a Transition carbon trail platform with proven Bosch SX power delivers what owners describe as transformative compared to the previous Fazua-equipped Heckler SL generation. Owners have built Regulator SX configurations down to 40 to 41 lb (18.6 kg) total weight with pedals using carbon wheels and selective component upgrades. The questionable note is the small 400 Wh battery, which limits range for owners wanting big alpine days, and the lack of detailed trim ladder published in our gold record.
Community-verified strengths. Long-term Bosch SX motor reliability is consistently praised, with multiple owners reporting thousands of miles trouble-free. Bosch SX is described as having cadence-metered support with noticeably higher peak power output than the Fazua Ride 60. The Regulator SX's chassis is reported as silent in operation and lower-resistance than Specialized SL2 platforms. The four-bar suspension layout makes setting proper rear sag easier than VPP rivals. The mullet wheel setup gives playful character, and the bike is described as 'handling comparably to the Heckler SL with potentially better jumping ability.'
Caveats and known gripes. The 400 Wh battery is the most consistent compromise on the Bosch SX platform: anyone planning all-day alpine rides will need the PowerMore range extender. The Bosch SX delivers less peak power than full-power CX or DJI Avinox systems, which limits aggressive climbing assist compared to those rivals. Some owners flag the steep 78-degree seat tube angle as causing forward-over-the-bars feel for taller riders, with the standard short steerer-tube cut limiting stem-rise headroom (Transition cuts the tube short by default with only 20 mm max stack underneath). Transition does not offer a reach-adjust headset as standard, which has been called for by owners.
Verdict. The Regulator SX 2026 suits the trail or enduro rider who wants Transition's signature aggressive geometry on a proven Bosch SX drive, with reliability that the previous Heckler SL Fazua chassis could not deliver. Riders chasing bigger battery, full-power CX Gen 5 motor or alternative suspension layouts should look at the Cube AMS Hybrid One44, the Pivot Shuttle SL/AM or the Specialized Levo SL. Production status: current.
