Levo 4 Alloy 2025
How current the bike is — newer chassis, motor and battery score higher. 10 = brand-new, 0 = legacy.
Full-power 160/150mm mullet trail eMTB with Specialized 3.1 motor (101Nm/666W std; 111Nm/720W S-Works), 840Wh battery, Fox Genie shock, 12-point adjustable geometry

The Specialized Turbo Levo 4 Alloy 2025 is the aluminium version of the all-new Gen 4 Levo platform, built around the Specialized 3.1 motor (105 Nm torque, 250 W rated, 810 W manufacturer-claimed peak, 3.15 kg motor weight) and an 840 Wh removable Specialized M50-840 battery. Travel is 160 mm front and 150 mm rear on an FSR 4-bar chassis with mixed wheels (29F/27.5R). Two trims — Base at £5,199 and Comp Alloy at £5,999 (26.05 kg). Six sizes from S1 to S6, reach 407-535 mm, head angle 64.5 degrees (adjustable ±1 degree via offset headset cups), 435 mm chainstays in short position (adjustable to 444 mm long). The community read in one line: a thoroughly refined Gen 4 Levo platform with the best in-house Specialized motor yet, the largest battery and best frame storage in the category, brought to a competitive aluminium price point.
Drive system and range. The Specialized 3.1 motor is built by Brose to Specialized's spec — 105 Nm torque, 810 W peak, 3.15 kg. @Idlefrog documents the comparison: 666 W vs Bosch Gen 4's 600 W (10% more), 840 Wh vs Bosch's 750 Wh (12% larger). Real-world range is genuinely strong — @Mikerb's 75-year-old rider on a similar Levo Comp Gen 3 finished a 25-mile ride with 1,800 ft elevation with 50% battery remaining. @Jeff McD notes the 2024 Levo Comp Gen 4 S frame weighs 54.2 lbs stock; with a 600 Wh battery and lightweight wheelset, under 48 lbs at 155 lb rider.
Geometry and handling. The most adjustable geometry in the category. Three independent adjustments give 12 combined settings: (1) offset headset cups for head angle 63.5° / 64.5° / 65.5°; (2) shock-mount flip chip for BB height -6mm; (3) Horst-link flip chip for chainstay 435mm short / 444mm long. Unlike Gen 3, BB and chainstay are decoupled. Reach progresses through six S-sizes: 407 mm (S1), 435 mm (S2), 455 mm (S3), 480 mm (S4), 505 mm (S5), and a properly long 535 mm (S6). Wheelbase 1200-1323 mm. @WatermanJim on his first ride on the green expert (Gen 4 carbon equivalent): "Much faster and smoother while also being more lively and maneuverable and thank god it's quiet."
Build and value. Two well-priced alloy trims. Base at £5,199 lands you a Marzocchi Bomber Z1 160mm fork, Marzocchi Bomber Inline rear shock, SRAM DB8 Stealth 4-piston brakes, and Specialized 30mm alloy mullet wheels. Comp Alloy at £5,999 (26.05 kg) upgrades to Fox Float 36 Rhythm with GRIP damper, Fox Float X Performance with Specialized Genie tuning, and SRAM Maven Bronze 4-piston brakes. Both ship with SWAT downtube storage (magnetic pouch), MasterMind T-series colour display, Turbo Connect Remote, and the side-load removable 840 Wh battery. £5,199 for a Gen 4 Levo platform with 840 Wh battery and SWAT storage is the value play of the entire 2025 full-power lineup.
Community-verified strengths.
- @Desert_Turtle: "This new chassis is way better than the other 3 generations. Not only is it stiffer and stronger, it's incredibly adjustable." The 12-position geometry adjustment is genuinely useful.
- @Power1tobe 25+ years of MTB experience: detailed long-term review confirms the Gen 4 Levo delivers across mixed terrain.
- The combination of 840 Wh battery, SWAT storage, MasterMind display, Class 1/Class 3 toggle and Dynamic MicroTune electronic mode is the most complete integrated package in the category.
Caveats and known gripes.
- @BikeBert bluntly: "There's nothing 'Super' about the Gen 4. It's overhyped, overweight and late to the party. Pretty disappointing." Some Gen 3 owners feel the Gen 4 isn't a meaningful step.
- @Zimmerframe echoes the disappointment: "I'm still suffering from PTSD (Pretty Thorough Specialized Disappointment)." Gen 4 is great but didn't shock the market.
- 26.05 kg claimed weight on the Comp Alloy is heavy. Lighter alternatives (Cube AMS Hybrid 177 at 21.7 kg, Norco Range VLT at 23.8 kg) exist at higher price points.
- 105 Nm torque is below the headline category leaders (DJI Avinox M2S at 150 Nm, Bosch CX Gen 5 at 120 Nm).
- @Zimmerframe notes the recent Levo price reduction applies to US and Canada only — UK and EU buyers haven't seen the same discount.
Verdict. The Specialized Turbo Levo 4 Alloy 2025 is one of the best-engineered and most thoroughly integrated full-power eMTB platforms on the market at a properly competitive aluminium price point. It suits riders who value the 12-position adjustable geometry, the SWAT downtube storage, the 840 Wh battery, and the strong Specialized dealer network. The Base at £5,199 is the value pick for the entire 2025 full-power lineup. Look elsewhere if you want sub-23 kg weight, the absolute newest motor tech (DJI Avinox M2S, Bosch CX Gen 5), or a carbon chassis. Production status: current, two alloy trims, six sizes.
