Ransom eRIDE 2024
How current the bike is — newer chassis, motor and battery score higher. 10 = brand-new, 0 = legacy.
Long-travel 180/170mm enduro eMTB with Bosch Performance CX Gen 4, adjustable geometry and 6-Link Ransom kinematic.

The Scott Ransom eRIDE 2024 is the Swiss brand's long-travel enduro flagship: 180 mm of travel front and rear, the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 motor at 85 Nm of torque and 600 W peak, and a removable 625 Wh PowerTube battery. With a 64.0 degree head angle adjustable via flip-chip, 463–465 mm chainstays and Scott's 6-Link Ransom kinematic, this is a serious all-mountain-park-shuttle bike. The Ransom Carbon HMF (910) or aluminium (920) options sit at 24.87 kg claimed weight, putting them mid-pack against carbon Avinox and Bosch CX Gen 5 rivals.
Drive system and range. The Bosch CX Gen 4 is now superseded by CX Gen 5 (120 Nm vs Gen 4's 85 Nm) — buyers should be aware this is now the previous-generation Bosch unit. Forum data confirms the Gen 4 CX Performance configuration. The 625 Wh PowerTube battery is removable and on the small side for a 2024 long-travel enduro where 750–800 Wh is increasingly standard. Real-world range on Gen 4 CX with 625 Wh typically gives 1,000–1,400 m of climbing per charge. Bosch's Smart System ecosystem (eBike Flow app, OTA updates) is supported, but the Gen 4 motor cannot be retrofitted to the newer 120 Nm Gen 5 spec.
Geometry and handling. A 64.0 degree head angle is bang in the modern enduro sweet spot — slack enough for serious descending without being extreme. Reach progresses cleanly: 415 mm (S), 440 mm (M), 470 mm (L), 500 mm (XL). Chainstays are 463 mm (S–L) and 465 mm (XL) — a modest nod to size-progressive rear-centre, though longer than current Norco or Megamo size-balanced approaches. Wheelbase grows 1,220 mm to 1,300 mm. The 6-Link Ransom kinematic with Horst Link is Scott's proven layout, paired here with a FOX Float X Nude EVOL Factory eRIDE shock featuring Ramp Control (170 mm Descend / 130 mm Ramp modes) controlled by Scott's TwinLoc remote. The flip-chip allows head-angle adjustment.
Build and value. The 910 carbon top trim pairs FOX 38 Float Performance Elite GRIP2 fork (or RockShox ZEB Ultimate Air, 180 mm), the FOX Float X Nude EVOL Factory eRIDE shock with TwinLoc, SRAM Code RSC Stealth 4-piston brakes (HS2 200 mm rotors) and SRAM GX Eagle AXS Transmission. The 920 aluminium sibling drops to a similar suspension setup with mainstream finish. Pricing data is not gold-listed but typical 2024 UK retail for the 910 runs £7,500–£9,000.
Community-verified strengths. The Ransom platform has been well-regarded for descending. @Vicki ran a 2022 Ransom eRide in mullet configuration (29/27.5 via flip-chip), confirming the flexibility of the geometry adjustment. @Rob Rides EMTB identifies the bike's strengths in steep rocky descents (Spain and southern France). The TwinLoc remote and shock-mode switching is distinctive and well-engineered.
Caveats and known gripes. Bosch CX Gen 4 motor reliability is the biggest forum concern. @RobertK. documents a serious motor issue: under load the motor would "skip a beat like a broken hub". A complete drivetrain replacement (hub, derailleur, cassette, chain) did not fix the issue, and Bosch denied the warranty claim after 3 weeks — saying motor failure "wasn't their fault". A meaningful warranty pathway concern. @Rob Rides EMTB's lighter rider profile (164 cm, 60 kg) is now actively shopping for a lighter alternative to his current Scott Ransom eRide. The 625 Wh battery is small by 2024 standards. The 463–465 mm chainstays are long and not strongly size-progressive. The Gen 4 motor is now the previous generation — buyers comparing to current Bosch CX Gen 5 builds at similar money are getting older drive technology.
Verdict. The Scott Ransom eRide is a serious long-travel 180/180 enduro from a Swiss brand with strong design heritage and a distinctive 6-Link Ransom kinematic. It will suit aggressive enduro and bike-park riders who value Scott's design heritage, the TwinLoc shock mode-switching feature and the Ransom's adjustable geometry. Buyers wanting the latest Bosch CX Gen 5 motor, a larger 750–800 Wh battery, or first-hand confidence around Bosch motor-warranty claims should look at current 2025–2026 alternatives — Cube One77 SLX, Centurion No Pogo R7000 or Trek Rail+ Gen 5 — all of which ship with the newer Gen 5 motor and full 800 Wh batteries. Production status: current.
