EMTB Forums verdict

The Scott Genius eRIDE 2024 is a carbon all-mountain eMTB built around the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 motor, with TwinLoc multi-mode suspension and 160/150 mm travel. Headline numbers: 23.8 kg claimed, 4 sizes covering 440 to 515 mm reach, a 65.0 degree head angle, 625 Wh integrated PowerTube battery and £7,999 base. Production status: discontinued.

Drive system and range. The Bosch CX Gen 4 (predecessor to the current Gen 5) delivers 85 Nm of torque and a 600 W manufacturer-claimed peak. The 625 Wh PowerTube is modest by 2025 standards. Scott offered a REX (range extender) option for size L frames specifically: sandyman44 details the kit — "Uses standard Bosch PowerPack 500 battery with Y-cable loom for parallel dual-battery configuration (passive, no active components)". Critically, sandyman44 notes "REX battery pack is removable from frame, unlike M or S sizes which cannot remove battery once fitted" — a real limitation for smaller riders. Motor durability is genuinely strong: v950 reports "Scott Genius eRide 910 (2022) with Bosch CX Gen 4 and 625 Wh battery achieved 32,700 km on the original motor".

Geometry and handling. Four sizes (S, M, L, XL) cover a 440 to 515 mm reach range. The 65.0 degree head angle is fixed, the chainstay sits at 436 to 443 mm (size-specific tuning), and wheelbase grows from 1,220 mm to 1,295 mm. The TwinLoc 3-mode shock lever is Scott's distinctive feature, allowing the rider to switch between full travel, mid-travel climbing and full-lockout positions on the fly. The flip-chip 27.5/29-inch wheel-size compatibility gives some chassis flexibility. Conservative 65 degree HA is on the steeper side for a 2024 all-mountain bike, signalling a balanced trail bike rather than an aggressive descender.

Build and value. One trim is on file at £7,999. Common owner upgrades: 2WheelsNot4 upgraded to a "Fox 36 Rhythm 15x110 mm" fork on a 2022 920. Chem1st documented the 2021 alloy 920 spec: "Purion display, 625 Whr battery, alloy frame, Fox 36 fork".

Community-verified strengths. First, motor longevity: v950 at 32,700 km on the original CX Gen 4 motor is exceptional. Second, TwinLoc is genuinely useful for mixed terrain. Third, the bike's well-established Scott Sports dealer network for warranty and service.

Caveats and known gripes. First, the battery is non-removable on size M and S — sandyman44 explicitly notes "M or S sizes cannot remove battery once fitted". Second, water and mud ingress: Mikerb reports the "battery compartment accumulates mud/crap at connector area after normal riding, can be mitigated with front mudguard and edge sealing". macinthekitchen confirms "water can drain away and does not cause issues even if contacting connectors; mud buildup should be cleaned to ensure drainage". Third, discontinued status — the Genius platform has been superseded.

Verdict. The Scott Genius eRIDE 2024 suits buyers who specifically want the TwinLoc multi-mode suspension, Bosch CX Gen 4 motor reliability and Scott's deep dealer network on a heavily-discounted runout deal. Less suitable for buyers needing a removable battery on small/medium sizes, the latest Gen 5 motor, or modern slack geometry. Production status: discontinued.

What the numbers mean on the trail

Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.

Size
Descending
64

A solid all-round descender (65° head angle, 150mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.

Playfulness
43

A fair bit of pop, but happiest on flowing trail rather than trials moves.

Size balance
80

Balanced front-to-rear in L (FC:RC 1.87) — weight sits evenly between the wheels.

Technical climbing
73

the motor and a steep 77° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch.

Best suited toBig-day all-rounders who climb a lot and still descend hard.

Strong up and composed down — a do-it-all, not a specialist.

Watch out forNo major red flags in the L geometry.

The numbers are well balanced for its category.

Computed from geometry + spec, not a paid review. Scores are guidance, not gospel.
