Rotwild R.X750 2022
EMTB Forums verdict

The R.X750 was the flagship of Rotwild's 'Big Mountain' category for 2022: a handmade full carbon 150/152 mm mixed-wheel eMTB built around the Brose Drive S Mag motor and the brand's own quick release IPU750 750 Wh battery. It sat between the lighter all-mountain R.X375 and the enduro R.E750 in the German range, pitched at technical alpine climbing and descending.

All three trims shared the frame, motor, battery and Schwalbe Magic Mary/Hans Dampf tyre pairing, so the money went on suspension and drivetrain. The Core (7,499 euro) ran Fox Performance dampers, Shimano XT shifting and Magura MT5 brakes; the Pro (8,999 euro) added XT four-piston brakes, DT Swiss HX 1501 wheels and an Eightpins H01 dropper; the Ultra (11,999 euro) topped out with Factory Kashima suspension, full XTR, carbon DT Swiss HXC 1501 wheels and the longer stroke Eightpins NGS 2 post.

Geometry is moderate rather than radical, with a 66 degree head angle, 445 mm chainstays and a 437 mm reach in M, plus a usefully low 750 mm standover across all four sizes. The bike is discontinued: Rotwild relaunched the R.X750 name on a redesigned platform for 2023.

What the numbers mean on the trail

Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.

Size
Descending
56

A solid all-round descender (66° head angle, 152mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.

Playfulness
62

A fair bit of pop, but happiest on flowing trail rather than trials moves.

Size balance
98

Rear-long with a planted front in L (FC:RC 1.78) — easy to weight the front and quick to turn, though it can feel light at the back at real speed.

Technical climbing
67

Climbs well — a 74° seat keeps the front planted. 560W of peak power and 90Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.

Best suited toAll-round trail riding across mixed terrain.

No single standout trait — a balanced, versatile bike.

Watch out forNo major red flags in the L geometry.

The numbers are well balanced for its category.

“Looks like its not only Specilized bringing it with the new Mag S, Rotwild coming in with all guns blazing on this one. 22.6 KG, mixed size DT Swiss carbon wheels, massive battery, full carbon frame, 12 speed XTR, Eightpins frame…”
