Shimano EP801 RS Gen2 lightweight enduro eMTB

The Orbea Rise LT 2025 is the Spanish brand's premium lightweight all-mountain platform: a carbon chassis with 160 mm of fork travel paired with 150 mm of rear, Shimano EP801 RS motor (85 Nm torque, 500 W peak) tuned by Orbea for the lightweight Rise concept, and a non-removable integrated 420 Wh battery. At a claimed 19.0 kg and £7,599 for the carbon M-trim base, the Rise LT sits in the upper-mid premium segment. Eight size options across S–XL with reach progression from 430–505 mm and dual head-angle settings (64.5° or 65.0°) via flip-chip give one of the most adjustable fit profiles in the class.
Drive system and range. The EP801 RS is Orbea's Shimano-co-tuned motor: 85 Nm of torque, 500 W peak, 2.7 kg unit weight. The "RS" branding indicates Orbea's bespoke power profile rather than a different motor unit. @levity documents three overrun choices in the 2025 EP801 RS and prefers the longest setting. The integrated 420 Wh battery is on the small side and not removable on the gold-listed base trim; some higher-trim variants ship with the larger 630 Wh option. @levity reports an 80-year-old, 165 lb rider gets approximately 35 miles and 3,500 ft of climbing with high assist on a 630 Wh Rise LT M20 — and 40 miles/4,000 ft with lower assist. Strong real-world data.
Geometry and handling. A 64.5°/65.0° head angle via flip-chip is bang in the modern trail-all-mountain sweet spot. Reach is consistent across head-angle settings: 430 mm (S), 455 mm (M), 480 mm (L), 505 mm (XL). Chainstays sit at 440 mm (steep setting) or 445 mm (slack setting) — short and playful. Wheelbase grows 1,205 mm to 1,310 mm depending on size and head-angle position. The flip-chip is genuinely useful, letting riders tune the bike's character between trail-orientation (steeper, longer WB) and slacker all-mountain feel. The 4-bar suspension is Orbea's proven layout.
Build and value. Three trims share the chassis. The £4,199 H10 at 20.3 kg is the alloy-spec entry. The £7,599 base carbon trim at 19.0 kg is the gold-listed flagship. The €10,189 M-Team at 20.3 kg is the carbon top trim. @Inde_Si documents a comprehensive Rise LT H10 size medium build with OneUp E-MTB bars, Oak Components Eternal stem, Hope Tech4 V4 brakes, Magura MDR-P 203 mm rotors and DT350 wheels — signalling the platform's appeal to high-end builders. @TorAtle measured an M10 size Large at 20.6 kg with stock Maxxis Minions, large battery, Fox dropper and aluminium wheels and bars.
Community-verified strengths. Real-world owner feedback is broadly positive. @MeatBike recommends MTB Monster as a UK dealer with strong service and ordered a Rise LT H10 himself. The EP801 RS overrun customisation, dual head-angle settings, and eight-size lineup are class-competitive. The 19 kg claimed weight on the carbon platform is genuinely competitive against Specialized Levo SL Gen 2 or Trek Fuel EXe.
Caveats and known gripes. Headset cable routing is the most-cited complaint. @levity reports "multiple cables running through the headset" on the Rise LT and @skizzian notes it can be problematic and requires special handlebars accepting cabling under the grips. @skizzian on 2023-model Rises had a stainless top bearing and a rusty nitrided bottom bearing — a service caveat. @levity on a 2025 Rise LT M10 ordered a Fox DHX1 coil shock and swapped the factory Fox 36 fork for a Marzocchi Bomber Z1 coil — signalling that some riders find the stock air suspension under-damped. @levity notes the Large frame's stock 200 mm dropper put extended seat height too high for his 5'11" frame; swapping to a 170 mm dropper fixed it. The 420 Wh battery on the base spec is the platform's biggest limitation; the 630 Wh option is the practical choice for serious riders. @Backflip is sceptical of Orbea's "RS" marketing as a meaningful drivetrain differentiator versus stock EP801.
Verdict. The Orbea Rise LT is one of the better-engineered lightweight 160/150 mm carbon all-mountain platforms on sale: 19 kg, EP801 RS power, eight sizes, dual head-angle settings and a strong UK dealer network. It will suit riders who want a versatile mid-power trail-to-all-mountain bike with a refined ride character and Orbea's tuned EP801 RS variant. Buyers wanting maximum motor torque, removable batteries, simpler cable routing, or 800 Wh full-power energy density should look at the Cube Stereo Hybrid One77 SLX or Trek Rail+ Gen 5 alternatives. Production status: current.
