EMTB Forums verdict

The GasGas MXC is the brand's thrill-focused all-mountain e-MTB, built around a 160/140 mm carbon mullet chassis (29in front, 27.5in rear) with a notably slack 64.5 degree head angle, 495 mm reach in size L and size-specific rear triangles. It leans hard on GasGas's motocross identity with removable frame covers and a metal skid plate, and is pitched at bike park, jumps and freeride riding rather than long-distance touring.

The whole range runs the SRAM Eagle Powertrain motor (90 Nm, 680 W peak) with a 630 Wh integrated battery and SRAM's AXS Bridge top-tube display, with an optional 250 Wh range extender. The trims differ mainly on suspension and drivetrain tier. The flagship MXC 6 at £8,999 pairs DVO Onyx D1CV OTT and Topaz CV suspension with SRAM X0 Transmission, Code RSC brakes, NEWMEN wheels and a Reverb AXS post. The MXC 5 at £7,999 keeps DVO suspension but steps to GX Transmission, G2 RS brakes and a mechanical GASGAS dropper. The MXC 4 at £6,499 is the value entry, swapping to a RockShox Lyrik Select+ fork and Deluxe Select+ shock with a cable-actuated GX Eagle drivetrain and DB8 brakes.

Geometry is identical across all three trims, so the choice is purely about how much you want to spend on suspension damping and shifting. The mid-tier MXC 5 is arguably the sweet spot, retaining the wireless AXS drivetrain and DVO dampers of the flagship for a grand less, while the MXC 4 gives up wireless shifting but keeps the same frame and motor for the lowest entry price.

This is the 2024 model and the MXC has since been discontinued in this exact form. It was one of the earliest production e-MTBs to ship with SRAM's Eagle Powertrain system.
