29" carbon down-country eMTB with Bosch SX and integrated display

The Forestal E Cygnus 2025 is a featherweight downcountry-leaning carbon eMTB built around the Bosch Performance Line SX, pitched at the upper tier of the lightweight category. Headline numbers: 55 Nm of torque, 400 Wh non-removable Bosch CompactTube battery, 130 mm front / 120 mm rear travel, a 67.0 degree head angle, 17.59 kg claimed and a €11,299 base price. The headline descriptor is "17.6 kg downcountry e-MTB with Bosch SX, 400 Wh battery, Forestal's Twin Levity suspension and a 3.99-inch integrated touchscreen". No curated community quotes are on file yet, so this verdict draws on the gold spec sheet and Forestal platform context.
Drive system and range. The Bosch Performance Line SX is the leading lightweight motor system in production today, with 55 Nm of torque, a 600 W manufacturer-claimed peak and a 2.0 kg integration weight. Forestal's choice to spec the 400 Wh CompactTube as non-removable is the spec sheet's most controversial decision — it streamlines packaging and saves frame complexity, but you cannot quick-swap a fresh pack at the trailhead or bring the battery indoors easily for winter charging. The PowerMore 250 Wh range extender is compatible, taking total potential capacity to 650 Wh. On a 17.6 kg platform with 120 mm rear travel and a downcountry geometry brief, the SX has unusually long legs here — expect range to outperform most heavier lightweight rivals on equivalent terrain.
Geometry and handling. The geometry is firmly downcountry rather than aggressive trail: reach progresses from 445 mm (SM/MD combo) through 470 mm (LG) and 495 mm (XL), with a 67.0 degree head angle held constant across the range. The 448 mm chainstay is fixed and wheelbase is exceptionally short at 981 mm (SM/MD) growing to 1,035 mm (XL). The 67 degree head angle is significantly steeper than full-fat trail eMTB rivals (which sit at 64.5 to 65) and signals a bike that climbs and corners precisely on technical XC and light-trail terrain, but will feel out of its depth on steep, fast descents. This is a bike that pairs well with the downcountry brief — twisty natural singletrack, big-mileage days, climbing-led rides.
Build and value. Two trims are available, the Diode and the Halo, with the base Diode at €11,299. For that money you get Forestal's Alpha Box monocoque full-carbon frame, the 3.99-inch integrated touchscreen, Twin Levity linkage-driven single-pivot rear suspension, and the Bosch SX with its 400 Wh non-removable battery. Pricing is firmly at the boutique end — the Cygnus is competing with carbon Trek Fuel EXe, Specialized Levo SL and Pivot Shuttle SL on price, but bringing a distinctly different downcountry character to the segment.
Verdict. The Forestal E Cygnus 2025 suits riders who want a featherweight 17.6 kg carbon eMTB with a downcountry character, who value the Bosch SX dealer ecosystem and the brand's signature integrated touchscreen, and who can absorb the non-removable battery trade-off. Less suitable for hard-charging trail and enduro riders who need slacker head angles, longer travel and removable batteries — they should look at full-suspension trail-class lightweights (Canyon Neuron:ONfly, Whyte ELyte) or full-power 130/140 mm rivals. Production status: current.
