Brose S-Mag (90Nm) mullet trail eMTB

The Fantic XTF 1.5 2025 is the trail-focused full-suspension eMTB from Italian brand Fantic, built around the Brose Drive S Mag motor (90 Nm torque, 250 W rated, 565 W manufacturer-claimed peak, 2.9 kg) and a 630 Wh removable battery. Travel is 150 mm front and rear on an aluminium 4-bar chassis with 29 inch wheels. Currently catalogued in a single L size with a 466 mm reach, 66.5 degree head angle and 456 mm chainstay. Single base trim at £5,499, claimed weight 23.5 kg. The community read in one line: a well-built Italian platform with the quiet, naturally tuned Brose drive, sensibly priced, but information is thin on the ground because the wider XTF/XMF range tends to dominate dealer attention.
Drive system and range. The Brose Drive S Mag remains one of the smoothest, most natural-feeling eMTB motors on the market. 90 Nm of torque is mid-pack for 2025 but the belt-drive internal is what makes Brose stand out — it's exceptionally quiet under load. The 630 Wh battery is removable from the frame, with the related XTF 1.7 trim moving to 720 Wh. Real-world range will sit in the 35 to 55 km territory in trail mode on typical mixed terrain, with the 630 Wh pack being the limiting factor versus 720 to 800 Wh rivals.
Geometry and handling. The geometry is firmly traditional rather than long-and-slack: 66.5 degree head angle, 456 mm chainstay, 466 mm reach (L only), 1238 mm wheelbase. This is a bike designed for natural-feeling, agile trail riding rather than enduro tendencies. The 4-bar suspension layout pedals efficiently and delivers consistent small-bump compliance. 29 inch wheels front and rear are standard. The single L size cataloguing is a limitation — buyers under 175 cm or over 190 cm will need to look at the wider XTF range or other brands.
Build and value. Single base trim at £5,499 with 23.5 kg claimed weight. Fantic dealers typically equip the XTF 1.5 with mid-range RockShox or Fox suspension matched to the 150 mm travel, four-piston brakes with 200 mm rotors, and a Shimano XT or SLX 12-speed drivetrain. @Tekmotiv (a dealer) flagged the XTF 1.5 and 1.7 as competitive options at this price point with the Brose motor.
Caveats and known gripes.
- Single L size limits the addressable buyer pool. Most major brands now offer four to seven sizes at this price.
- Only 630 Wh battery on this trim. The XTF 1.7 stepping up to 720 Wh is the buyer's choice if range matters.
- Limited community presence on the forum. Detailed long-term ownership reports are thin compared to mass-market rivals like Cube, Canyon and Specialized.
- Italian dealer network outside Italy is patchy. Brose support is excellent in Germany and central Europe but thinner in the UK and US compared to Bosch and Shimano.
Verdict. The Fantic XTF 1.5 2025 is a genuinely competitive Italian trail eMTB for buyers who want the natural Brose ride feel, who like the brand's Italian engineering pedigree, and who fit the single L size. It suits intermediate trail riders looking for a well-built bike that prioritises agility and refinement over slack-and-long enduro geometry. Look elsewhere if you need a wider size range, more battery capacity, or the headline motor specs of the latest Bosch CX Gen 5 or DJI Avinox. Production status: current, single trim, single size.
