Bosch-powered mullet enduro eMTB

The Canyon Torque:ON 2025 is a long-travel full-power carbon enduro eMTB built around the Shimano EP801 drivetrain in a four-bar chassis. Headline numbers: 180 mm of fork and 175 mm of rear travel, a 25.8 kg claimed weight, a properly slack 63.5 degree head angle and a reach span of 435 to 525 mm across four sizes in two geometry configurations. The community verdict is split: this is one of the best-priced carbon enduro eMTBs going at £3279, but the brand has spent the past year working through a serious battery safety recall on the CF range that buyers must factor in.
Drive system and range. Shimano EP801 sits at the heart of the bike with 85 Nm of torque, paired with a relaunched 800 Wh Darfon battery built fully in aluminium with double-sealed contacts and an IP57 waterproof rating. @jbrown15 notes Canyon use the BT-E8035-L longer Shimano case dimensions, the same external footprint as the higher-capacity 630 Wh BT-E8036. The 2025 relaunch followed a major recall on the prior 720 Wh and 900 Wh packs across the Spectral:ON CF / CFR and Torque:ON CF, where plastic housings could crack and short-circuit. Canyon's stop-ride notice ran for many months and @alleeex documents the partial refund formula Canyon applied for the lockout period. The new Darfon pack carries a two-year warranty.
Geometry and handling. A 63.5 degree head angle is among the slackest in the eMTB enduro segment, slacker than the 64 degree mark common on Specialized, Trek and Cannondale rivals. Reach steps clean: SM at 435 or 450 mm, MD at 460 or 475 mm, LG at 485 or 500 mm and XL at 510 or 525 mm. The dual figures come from the two-position chainstay flip-chip, which lets you pick 430 mm short or 445 mm long. Wheelbases run 1214 to 1335 mm. @jooles notes the short chainstay and 74 degree seat-tube angle are explicitly tuned for descending.
Build and value. Four trims from £3279 to £7999. The CF 7 at £3279 is the value entry, the CF at £5749, the CF 8 at £6499 and the CF 9 at £7999 sitting at the top. @Rob Rides EMTB flags two important build constraints: the bike has no ISCG tabs (it uses Shimano's e-bike standard mounts on the drive unit) and neither Fox nor RockShox approve a coil rear shock for this frame due to the shock-extension geometry. @AshHaushaltswaren flags the 150 mm dropper across all sizes as too short for a 180/175 mm enduro bike: a likely upgrade on day one for taller riders.
Community-verified strengths. Owners praise the value, with @smtkelly calling out the price point and paint options at launch. The 175 mm coil-friendly chassis (even with the air-only shock constraint) is widely seen as a proper park-and-enduro tool, and @Th3bill shows just how far the chassis can be modded with a Smashpot-converted air spring, MRP Lift damper, Hayes Dominion A4 brakes and Ibis Send rims. The 63.5 degree head angle pulls genuine plaudits from riders who use this bike in steep terrain.
Caveats and known gripes. Three flags. The recall fallout dominates: @fankus reports going through three skid plates due to a low BB on the CF9, which doubles as a frame durability concern at this travel and weight. The no-coil rule is a hard limitation for riders who want a coil setup on a 175 mm bike. Tyre clearance officially tops out at 2.5 inches per @Rob Rides EMTB, though 2.6 inch fits in practice.
Verdict. The Torque:ON 2025 is the bike for the value-driven rider who wants the slackest, longest-travel carbon eMTB in the mainstream brands at the price. Just buy the post-relaunch 800 Wh build with the new Darfon pack, factor in a dropper upgrade and accept the no-coil constraint. Riders who want a coil shock, ISCG tabs or a less complicated brand backstory should look at a Cannondale Moterra LT or Specialized Kenevo SL. Production status is current.
