All-mountain eMTB with Pinion MGU E1.12 gearbox + Gates Carbon belt

The Bulls Vuca EVO AM 2 2025 is a carbon-frame, alloy-swingarm all-mountain eMTB built around the unusual Pinion MGU E1.12 motor-gearbox unit with belt drive. Headline numbers: 85 Nm of torque, 790 Wh removable FIT UltraCore battery, 150 mm of travel front and rear, 25.0 kg claimed and £7,100 base. There are no curated rider quotes on file yet, so this verdict draws on the gold spec sheet and Pinion MGU platform context.
Drive system and range. The Pinion MGU E1.12 is the headline act here and the reason most buyers come to the Vuca EVO platform in the first place. It is a fully integrated motor-and-gearbox unit, eliminating the rear derailleur and cassette in favour of 12 internally selected gears and a Gates Carbon Drive belt. The motor itself produces 85 Nm of torque and a 600 W manufacturer-claimed peak. With the larger 790 Wh FIT UltraCore battery paired to a sensibly geared 25 kg all-mountain platform, real-world range will easily clear 1,800 to 2,200 metres of climbing in mid-tier assist on most rider profiles. The trade-off is well known: the Pinion MGU is heavier than a Bosch CX Gen 5 (4.1 kg vs 2.8 kg), and the motor sits low and centred but adds noticeable mass to the bottom bracket area. In exchange, the gearbox-and-belt drivetrain is famously low-maintenance — no chain to clean, no derailleur to bend, and the ability to shift while stationary at a light.
Geometry and handling. Bulls has built the Vuca EVO AM 2 on a 4-bar suspension layout with reach progressing from 442 mm (size SM) to 460 mm (MD), 472 mm (LG) and 484 mm (XL). The head angle is a single 66.0 degrees across the size range, which by 2025 all-mountain standards is conservative but in keeping with the platform's trekking-friendly character. The 455 mm chainstay is fixed across sizes, and wheelbase grows from 1,210 mm in SM to 1,265 mm in XL. The implication is a stable, predictable bike biased towards mixed riding (trail to all-mountain) rather than a steep-and-deep descender. Combined with the low-slung Pinion mass, the bike should feel planted and unflappable rather than poppy.
Build and value. Only the base AM 2 trim is on file at £7,100, anchored by the carbon front triangle, alloy rear, Pinion MGU drivetrain with Gates belt, and Fox suspension front and rear. At this price the bike sits up against premium-equipped Bosch CX Gen 5 and Shimano EP801 carbon rivals from Cube, Canyon and Trek; the appeal is not spec-per-pound but rather the unique drivetrain and the integrated commuter-to-trail versatility. An optional 960 Wh FIT UltraCore battery is offered at an additional cost for buyers chasing maximum range.
Verdict. The Bulls Vuca EVO AM 2 2025 makes sense for the rider who wants a low-maintenance, do-it-all eMTB with the Pinion gearbox-and-belt drive at its heart, who values long battery life and motor durability above outright peak torque, and who rides predominantly mixed trails and trekking routes rather than steep enduro lines. It is less compelling for riders chasing the very lightest motors, sharper enduro geometry, or shop-style derailleur drivetrains. Production status: current. Prospective buyers should demo the Pinion shift feel before committing — it is excellent at standstill, but the loaded-shift behaviour under power has a learning curve that does not suit everyone.
