Aluminium mullet trail eMTB with Shimano XT and Suntour Durolux

The Bulls Copperhead EVO AM 3 2025 is the German brand's value-led full-power all-mountain eMTB, built around the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor (120 Nm, 250 W rated, 750 W peak) and a removable 750 Wh PowerTube battery. The 6061 aluminium frame runs a four-bar Horst-link layout with 150 mm of travel front and rear, mullet wheels (29/27.5in), and a claimed weight of 26.5 kg. UK pricing opens at £5,499, and US street pricing has been quoted by @DougSutton at $3,600, which he calls "one of the best value deals in the eMTB market".
Drive system and range. The Bosch CX Gen 5 brings the most torque the platform has ever offered after recent firmware updates (120 Nm), with the Smart System ecosystem providing Kiox 300 displays, Bluetooth diagnostics and over-the-air firmware. The PowerTube 750 sits at 750 Wh, removable for off-bike charging, and accepts the Bosch PowerMore 250 Wh range extender for riders chasing all-day rides. Expect 1,100-1,400 m of real-world climbing on a charge in trail conditions. The Smart System also opens up walk assist, eMTB+ mode adaptive support, and the ABS-ready hardware path Bosch has been rolling out across 2026.
Geometry and handling. A 66.0° head angle is conservative by 2025 all-mountain standards (modern rivals sit at 64.5-65°), which makes the EVO AM 3 a notably easier-handling trail bike than a slacker enduro rig but less composed at speed. Reach progresses S 439 mm, M 451 mm, L 474 mm, XL 497 mm. Chainstay length is fixed at 445 mm across all sizes, slightly long for the SM, which will keep weight distribution rearward for shorter riders. Wheelbase grows from 1,204 mm on the SM to 1,275 mm on the XL. The mullet wheel setup retains tighter turning at slow speeds while preserving rollover up front.
Build and value. Bulls offers the EVO AM 3 in a single 750 Wh trim at the price point. SR Suntour handles the suspension with the Durolux 36 RC2 Boost fork (150 mm) and an RS19 TRIAir 3CR shock. This is the standout cost-saver: SR Suntour Durolux is competent but lacks the tuning support and aftermarket parts ecosystem of Fox or RockShox, and is the first upgrade target if you ride aggressively. Shimano XT 1x12 is a strong drivetrain pick at this price. Brakes are mixed Shimano BR-M6120 four-piston front and M6100 two-piston rear, an unusual split that saves money but should be matched front/rear by riders who tow heavy descents. Internal cable routing through the ICR headset is clean but watch for the creaking @voigtkampff describes on similar ICR systems; he traced it to split-clamp stems flexing under preload.
Caveats and known gripes. Forum chatter directly on the Bulls Copperhead is light: most owners gravitate to Trek, Specialized and Cube for Bosch CX builds, so the long-term reliability picture is thin. The Suntour Durolux fork has a smaller global service network than Fox or RockShox. The conservative 66° head angle plus 150 mm travel pitches this as a trail bike with all-mountain badging — riders chasing genuine enduro composure should size up or look at slacker rivals like the Whyte E-Lyte 150 or Trek Slash+. Bulls' UK dealer footprint is also modest compared to mainstream brands.
Verdict. The Copperhead EVO AM 3 is for the value-minded rider who wants a Bosch CX Gen 5, 750 Wh battery and Shimano XT for under £5,500. It is not for technical descenders who want premium suspension or for riders who prioritise a deep aftermarket support network. Production status is current and 2025 stock is still being sold globally with the platform continuing into 2026.
