Bosch-powered aluminium full-suspension trail eMTB

The Bergamont E-Trailster 2025 is the brand's range-topping aluminium trail eMTB, built around Bosch Performance Line CX power and a 750 Wh PowerTube battery. Travel is 150 mm front and 140 mm rear, the head angle is 65 degrees, and claimed weight is 23.0 kg. Six sizes (S through XL) with reach from 412 to 476 mm. The community read on Bergamont's trail platform: a solid mid-market all-rounder, sensibly specced for the £6,499 ask, that sits in the bargain bracket of the Bosch CX trail category without offering anything genuinely exotic.
Drive system and range. The Bosch Performance Line CX remains the most refined and best-supported motor on the market in 2025, with the smoothest power delivery, the deepest dealer network, and free OTA firmware updates that have repeatedly bumped the spec over its lifetime. Paired with the 750 Wh PowerTube, the E-Trailster is good for genuine all-day rides in mixed terrain, with most riders reporting 40 to 60 km of real-world range depending on assist level and elevation gain. The PowerTube is integrated into the downtube but remains removable for off-bike charging.
Geometry and handling. 65 degrees head angle is firmly in modern trail territory, neither slack-bro nor steep-XC. Reach steps through 412 mm (S), 432 mm (M), 455 mm (L) and 476 mm (XL), which is conservative by 2025 long-and-low standards but well-suited to riders who prefer a maneuverable rather than monster-truck feel. The chainstay is held at 490 mm across all six sizes, which is on the longer side for the category. That, combined with 1231 to 1305 mm wheelbase, gives the bike a planted, stable feel at speed at the cost of some agility in tight switchbacks. The VLK (Virtual 4-Link Kinematic) suspension layout is a Horst-style four-bar that prioritises pedalling efficiency over pure descending bite. Mixed 29/27.5 wheels are standard.
Build and value. The single Elite trim at £6,499 lands you a RockShox ZEB Select (150 mm) up front, a RockShox Deluxe Select Plus RT Air shock at the rear, Shimano MT520 four-piston brakes and a Shimano XT/Deore 1x12 drivetrain. The ZEB Select is a strong call at this price; many rivals at this point use the slimmer Lyrik or a 35 mm Fox 36 Rhythm/Performance. The MT520 brakes are honest, four-piston Shimano power without the XT lever feel, which is acceptable rather than exciting. The mixed XT/Deore drivetrain is the usual Bergamont parts-bin compromise but works fine in service.
Community-verified strengths.
- @Zayd Proctor flagged the older Bergamont E-Trailster 150 Elite as one of just three sub-€3,000 used eMTBs offering a Bosch motor with full suspension, alongside the Whistle B Rush C5.2 and Haibike, which speaks to its standing as a sensible-spec mid-market platform.
- Bosch CX motor support is the standout. Free firmware updates, the deepest dealer network in Europe, and proven long-term reliability mean buyers know what they're getting for years to come.
Caveats and known gripes.
- 23.0 kg claimed weight puts it on the heavier side of the trail eMTB category, where bikes like the Specialized Levo SL Gen 2 (17.5 kg) and Trek Fuel EXe (18 kg) have set a much lighter benchmark, albeit at higher prices and lower-power motors.
- Chainstay length is fixed at 490 mm across all six sizes, so smaller riders get a rear-centre that scales poorly versus the latest size-specific platforms from Specialized and Norco.
- Limited trim options. The single Elite spec means no upgrade path within the model line; buyers who want Fox suspension or a higher-end drivetrain have to look at a different brand.
Verdict. The Bergamont E-Trailster 2025 is a solid, value-focused Bosch CX trail eMTB for buyers who care more about motor support, range and sensible spec than about being on the absolute cutting edge of geometry or weight. It suits intermediate to advanced riders who ride mixed trail terrain, who buy through European dealer networks, and who want the Bosch ecosystem for the long haul. Look elsewhere if you want sub-21 kg, the latest DJI or Specialized motor tech, or size-specific rear-centre geometry. Production status: current.
