Since the beginning of emtbs, Cube always had many full suspension models to choose from. The Stereo Hybrid 120, Stereo Hybrid 140 and Stereo Hybrid 160 are still available for 2023. So where does the Cube Stereo Hybrid ONE55 fit in?

2023 Cube Stereo Hybrid ONE55 TM

150/160 mm travel 29er

It fits in just below the Stereo Hybrid 160. The ONE55 models offers 10 mm less travel, with 150 mm at the back and 160 mm up front. Also, the new bike gets the bigger 29er wheels. The old electric Stereo Hybrid 160 is one of few bikes still being sold with 27.5 wheels front and rear.

A sign of what’s to come?

Along with the Hybrid ONE55, Cube introduces 3 non-assist bikes, the 120 mm travel Stereo ONE22, the 140 travel ONE44 and the 170 mm travel 29er ONE77. Cube doesn’t say, but it seems to me the Stereo Hybrid 1X0 bikes are about to be replaced by the Stereo Hybrid ONEXX. As if the name wasn’t long enough already.

As expected, the new Cube comes with the Bosch Performance CX 85Nm motor.

Details

All Hybrid ONE55 models are well spec’ed, they all get the 750Wh Bosch battery along with the Bosch Performance CX 85Nm Smart System motor. I’m pleasantly surprised the entry level model comes with Rockshox Select+ suspension and proper tyres.

Only available in 3 sizes?

Judging by the geometry table, the Hybrid ONE55 only comes in sizes M, L and XL. And that's understandable. I assume it's difficult to fit the long 750 Wh battery and the battery mounts making it detachable, in the smallest frames. The Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 with the smaller 27.5 wheels does come in size S though, with a 750 Wh battery.

All in all, the frame geometry looks nice. Nice and short seattubes and an adjustable headangle that goes below 65*. I would perhaps prefer a few mm shorter chainstays, but not everyone agrees with me, so I guess it's fine. These are figures we are used to seeing on 160 mm travel 29er emtbs.

A promising upgrade

The new bike has a detachable battery. And that's a bit surprising. A full power 29er emtb with a detachable 750 Wh battery, at sub 23 kg. That really is quite impressive! And the specs are good for the money so this looks promising.

I appreciate the fact that the many of us who don’t have external power and are unable to bring a bike into the house are still being catered for with the larger batteries.

£7k though.

Very nice all the same. Development is really taking off with increased interest.

Even the regular bike forums are more supportive of Ebikes than they were only a couple of years back.

Spec might be good, but 2 year frame warranty is half what you get on a Raleigh bike.

Nice bike . I regret selling my cube hardtail. It was nice having a bike for mates to ride . Maybe I need to get one of these for my "mates"

Any reason to think that the carbon frame on these is better / stronger than the Stereos? I broke my 140 2020? Particularly worrying about the shock mount on the top tube - looks like a major stress-point!
